Somewhere in Denmark, this relic of the German occupation from 1940–1945 still stands, quietly reminding the few who visit of the war’s presence. Nearly 90 years have passed since those days, and time has taken its toll on this artifact. The most striking mark of the years gone by is a signature scrawled next to the painting, along with the date ‘1971.’
