The Tunnel de Godarville, located in Belgium, was constructed between 1882 and 1885 to facilitate navigation on the Brussels-Charleroi Canal. Spanning approximately 1,050 meters, it replaced the earlier Tunnel de la Bête Refaite to accommodate larger vessels up to 300 tonnes.
By 1958, advancements in canal infrastructure rendered the tunnel obsolete, leading to its closure. Subsequently, the tunnel was repurposed as a habitat for various bat species, contributing to local biodiversity.
